Scholarship Opportunities
At Bahria we show we care about our students by generously supporting and honoring them through different scholarship opportunities. Deserving students may benefit from our Financial Assistance Scholarships, and Merit and Advance Merit Scholarships. During the financial year 2009-10, we provided scholarships to 855 students through an allocated budget of Rupees 13.6 million.
We awarded one time scholarships through our resources for students of the war ravaged areas of the Malakand division and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
In collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) we awarded two other types of scholarships to students from Baluchistan and FATA: theJapanese Need Based Scholarship’ and ‘Provision of Higher Education Opportunities’.
We have awarded foreign scholarships for PhD and MS programmes to 20 successful faculty members, which amounted to Rupees 94 million through an HEC fund. At the same time we are running other programmes to strengthen our faculty.
Libraries
Our libraries are stocked with over 20,000 books providing the students comprehensive access to library holdings, including our own research projects depository (the thesis catalogue) and local digital collection (over 10,000 eBooks).
Our friendly and professional staff is ready to help the student make the most of the resources available in the libraries. The libraries are fully automated with bar codes being used to manage circulation, while radio frequency tags and CCTV help keep the library environment user friendly. Our catalogues are linked with the Library of Congress Z3950 Gateway so as to become part of the network of national and international libraries collaborative catalogues. Our library network is also hooked up with the HEC’s digital library and has instant access to over 50,000 online books and more than 23,000 journals.
Student Academic Counseling Service
The student may avail our counseling service that is designed to enhance his academic and extra-curricular activities. Our Office of Student Affairs was established to first facilitate the student on campus and later to launch him successfully in the business world.

Among our many support initiatives are: career services, media services, alumni networking, graduate profiling, trips to foreign universities, and providing scholarships.

International Linkages
Today international linkages provide an important benchmark which every educational institution aspires for. At Bahria we have built strong academic ties with 11 international universities across the world.
We are working on agreements for mutual benefit with selected higher educational institutions in the United States and Australia. In a recent development, we have firmed an agreement with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for sharing course ware.
Parallel to the linkages, we provide our students with hands-on learning opportunities and exposure through international visits.
Career Services
Our Career Office remains deeply committed to support every academic programme at the degree level. We strive to meet the ever-changing needs of employers and students by creating innovative ways of bringing them both together. Great stress is laid on catering to individual skills and needs and in helping students negotiate through the entire process of job hunting.

Student Resource Centre
Our Student Resource Centre is dedicated to assisting the students with their social activities by providing opportunities to develop their management, communication, team building, social and leadership skills. We strongly believe that our role is wider than simply providing the student with technical skills to land a job; it is also about providing him with a space, a platform for him to grow both professionally and personally.
We have five clubs at The Student Resource Centre:
Arts and Dramatics
Literary and Debates
Media Club
Events Club
Music Club
We encourage the student to take part in club activities such as house debates, dramatics, music and painting events. A student week will soon be made a regular feature at Bahria University Islamabad where they will display their creative talents and hold friendly competitions with each other to create a healthy environment. Bahrians' Association of Computer Students and Professionals (BACSAP) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)are two vibrant bodies representing purely engineering disciplines.
Leadership Development Centre
A Leadership Development Centre is functional at both the Islamabad and Karachi campuses. It develops programmes that help groom students to face the challenges of the modern world with confidence, so that they can fill positions of high management and responsibility later on in life.
Alumni Activities
Our commitment to students does not stop the day they graduate from Bahria, but lasts long after they step out of our gates to pursue their dreams.
To facilitate the students the Office of Student Affairs has established a strong and thriving alumni network through which alumni, students, faculty, staff and support members come together in professional collaborations and make friendships that last a lifetime. As a member of this network the student is updated with the very latest about university activities, professional development, career services, as well as getting continued access to online research. He will find our updated alumni record at the office of Director Student Affairs.
Special alumni activities are also organised to open windows of opportunity for the ex-students and professors to continue maintaining their ties with each other. Our alumni network is open not only to our graduates, but also to those who have yet to complete their studies.
Health Care
The student can avail of professional medical services from either male or female specially appointed doctors. If needed we provide OPD treatment and hospitalization as well.
Sports
At Bahria the student may choose from a large number of sporting events and activities. Our teams have performed superbly in cricket, hockey, tennis, table tennis, basketball, volleyball and swimming. Bahria has made its presence felt in sports among the other universities in the region, and has won four HEC Inter Zone Championships this year. A multi-storied gymnasium is under construction at the Islamabad campus which will offer a variety of indoor game facilities as well.
